NILD Educational Therapy
NILD Educational Therapy is a direct, language-based intervention for students with learning difficulties.
The goal of NILD Educational Therapy is to help students develop tools for independent learning in the classroom and in life.
Therapy focuses on strengthening the underlying causes of learning difficulties rather than simply treating the symptoms. Intervention is individualized to each student’s unique set of strengths and deficits. The NILD approach aims mediation just above the student’s level of functioning and raises expectations for performance. Students are trained to view themselves as competent, confident learners.
NILD Educational Therapy promotes academic success by strengthening thinking and problem-solving skills, supporting reading and writing abilities, and increasing visual and auditory memory, motor skills, number sense, and logic.
One-on-one instruction with a trained educational therapist over the course of three to five years builds confidence and competence in struggling learners.
Psycho-educational testing by a licensed school psychologist is required prior to entrance into this program.
